Cottage Waste Disposal
Managing your waste at the cottage can look different than it does at home. Check out the information below to make managing waste easier during your time at the cottage.
Bears |
Visit our Bear Wise Program page for more information. |
Clear Bags and Blue Boxes |
Garbage must be brought to a Waste Disposal Site in a clear, see-through bag. Site attendants may ask to look at your garbage bag. If your bag contains recycling, a fee will apply. Refer to the Landfill and Waste Management User Fees page for pricing. Recycling must be loose when it is dropped off at the Waste Disposal Site. This means the best choice for storing your recycling is in a Blue Box or other storage container (such as an old laundry basket). Recycling may be brought to a Waste Disposal Site contained in bags, but the bags must be emptied into the recycling bin. |
Cottage Kits |
If you rent out or share your cottage with others, make waste disposal easy for your guests. Cottage kits are available for purchase by the property owner and provide a one-time Waste Disposal Card as well as a Waste Management Guide. Please refer to the Landfill and Waste Management User Fees for cottage kit pricing. |
Disposable and Single Use Products |
Disposable and single use products are often used at the cottage to free up more time to play. Not all of these are recyclable, however. Please place these items in the garbage:

Waste Disposal Card |
Please ensure you have your Waste Disposal Card each time you attend one of our Waste Disposal Sites. Your Waste Disposal Card will be included with your final tax bill that is mailed out annually in June. Please keep your Waste Disposal Card in a safe secure place as additional cards or replacement cards, if required, may be subject to fees. Additional or replacement Waste Disposal Cards can be purchased from the Township Office, located at 7 Milne Street, Minden. You can also phone or email the Public Works Department. |
Waste Wizard |
Sorting recycling and garbage at the cottage may look different than it does at home. Use the Waste Wizard App to find out how to sort different waste items. |
