Emergency Preparedness
Fire Status is set at Moderate
Daytime burning is permitted from November 1 to March 31.
Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility for members of the community as well as the emergency workers who assist.
To keep the public aware of potential seasonal risks or disasters in the Minden Hills area, reminders will be advertised and posted through our newsfeed, by media releases, on social media, and through the local newspapers and radio.
Being prepared may not prevent a disaster but can assist you until emergency procedures are activated or in place.
Please visit Emergency Management Ontario – Be Prepared for more information on being prepared.
Emergency Planning
Everyone in Ontario is encouraged to be prepared by creating a plan, assembling an emergency survival kit and by staying informed. Visit Ontario's Emergency Preparedness website to learn about different emergencies and how to be prepared.
Make a Plan, Build a Kit and Stay Informed |
Step One – Make a PlanIn an emergency, your family may not be together, or you may be asked to evacuate your home. Thinking about what you would do in different situations and preparing a plan with every member of your family is the first step to being prepared. Learn what situations you need to plan for, such as where to go in an evacuation or how to reach family members at ontario.ca/page/emergency-management Step Two – Build an Emergency Survival KitYour emergency survival kit should have everything you and your family would need to be safe and take care of yourselves for at least 3 days immediately following an emergency. To learn more about items you may need to meet your family's unique needs, and items to have ready in case you have to leave your home and to build a custom survival kit, visit ontario.ca/page/emergency-management Step Three – Stay InformedDuring an emergency, you should stay tuned to local news channels. Be sure to have a portable, battery-operated or crank radio in your survival kit in case of power outages.
