Nominations
Nominations open Monday May 2, 2022 and Nomination Day is Friday August 19, 2022.
Individuals who wish to run for the office of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor at Large or Councillor, or for School Board Trustee(s), may file nomination papers starting Monday, May 2, 2022. The final day to file nomination papers is Friday, August 19, 2022, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Nominations can be made for the positions listed below. All nominations must be made on the prescribed forms and must include signatures of at least 25 persons (eligible electors within your municipality) endorsing the nomination on the prescribed form. School Board Trustees are excluded from the 25 signature requirement. Municipal Council:

Filing Your Nomination |
All Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, with the Clerk/Returning Officer. Please call or email ahead of time to confirm the availability of Staff or to make an appointment. The following Nomination Paper (Form 1) and Endorsement of Nomination (Form 2) may be completed and brought to the Clerk/Returning Officer at the time of filing. Adobe Acrobat Reader version 10.0 or above is required to view/print these forms. |

Accepted methods of payment are: cash, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to the Corporation of the Township of Minden Hills, and must accompany the signed forms. Full details on the procedures to be followed may be obtained from the Municipal Clerk. |

What would disqualify me from running for Council? |
The following persons are disqualified from running for Municipal Council:
It is the responsibility of each candidate to ensure that they are not disqualified from being nominated for the office. If not satisfied, the Clerk will reject the nomination and, as soon as possible, give notice to the person who sought to be nominated and to all other candidates for that office. The Clerk’s decision to certify or reject a nomination is final. |
How do I file my nomination? |
A person can only become a candidate during the Nomination Period. The Nomination Period Starts on Monday May 2, 2022 and end on Friday August 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Potential candidates are requested to make an appointment to ensure availability of staff to receive their nomination.
Nominations must be filed on the prescribed form (PR FORM 1) and are to be filed with the Clerk, or designate, at the Municipal Administration Office in the following manner:

Can I submit my nomination electronically? |
Nominations must be filed in person with the Municipal Clerk/Returning Officer. If a person is present at the Clerk’s Office on Nomination Day to file a nomination, they must make their presence known to the Clerk prior to 2:00 PM. Nomination papers will not be accepted after the deadline. The date and time of filing are to be filled in by the Clerk and initialed by the candidate or his/her agent. |
