Subject: Artist Talk by Michèle Karch-Ackerman on Wednesday, August 7, 2024
Join us at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery for an exclusive artist talk presented by renowned artist Michèle Karch-Ackerman as she discusses her latest (and final) installation, Flower Orphanage.
Michèle’s work is an elegiac symphony of femininity and flowers. Inspired by memories of her 92-year-old mother Madolin, and her own six decades of life, this is an exhibition that unabashedly celebrates motherhood, daughterhood, wifehood, girlhood, womanhood and the threads that connect humanity to nature.
Michèle is a nationally recognized contemporary artist whose installations are known for inspiring viewers with their provocative and touching subject matter. Her work has been exhibited in over forty solo exhibitions at public galleries across Canada. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, she is the recipient of numerous awards from the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council. Michèle previously exhibited at the AJG with her exhibit The Foundling.
The Artist Talk will take place in the Welch Room at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery starting at 1 p.m. on August 7. Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend. Admission is by donation.
