Subject: Minden Hills Cultural Centre Spring Programs
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is pleased to announce that the Museum, Heritage Village and Nature’s Place is now open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Stop by the Heritage Village for a self-guided tour. Throughout May and June there are also hands-on activities taking place every day including exciting nature experiments, early settler toys and games and wild-life sketching. Check out the full schedule of activities below:

The museum, Heritage Village & and Nature’s Place are open daily between Tuesday and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. The self-guided tour at the Village can be enjoyed at all times, while the Nature’s Place includes returning and new interactive exhibits. |
Programming Activities Descriptions: |
Bat CratsBuild a bat with simple crafting materials, like pipe cleaners and tissue paper. Different bat species also come in red, tan, brown, and gray, so pick the colour, make one, and bring home your little critter. Great for families of all ages. Available on 25th May and 1st June at Nature’s Pace between 3 and 4pm. Rock PaintingReady to rock the world with your artistic skills? Or are you just here for a zen rock painting session? Come join us and show us what you can do with rocks! All ages are welcome. Available on 26th May and 16th June at Nature’s Pace between 3 and 4pm. Experiments with NatureMad scientist alert! Science experiments will be conducted outside Nature's Place, and you are invited to witness and learn how things work in nature. During the first two sessions, we will explore the subjects of volcanic activities and buoyancy. Family participation welcome. Available on 27th May and 3rd June at 11am and 2pm. Mini-ScarecrowDon't you hate it when wild animals nibble on the crops in your garden? Help us build mini scarecrows made of straw and fabric! We need to protect our three sisters garden from birds and deer. All are welcome. Available on 2nd June at 11am and 2pm, and 23rd June between 3 and 4pm. Wildlife SketchesPick up a pencil and start sketching! Come join us and learn to sketch cute animals step-by-step. Take home your piece and show it to your friends! Great for families of all ages. Available on 8th June and 15th June between 3 and 4pm. Pioneer LifeWhat life was like as a villager or a woodsman in the 1850s? Join us and see demonstrations with historical artifacts, butter-making, and period clothing on Saturdays. All ages are welcome. Available 10th, 17th, and 24th June at 11am and 2pm. Paper Plate BirdsOwls, peacocks, parrots, flamingos... you name it, you've got it. It all starts with an uninspiring, plain paper plate. Come join us and find out how we can use a paper plate and craft all kinds of birds. Great for families. Available on 22nd June between 3 and 4pm, and 29th June at 11am and 2pm. Canada day EventsThis year's Canada Day events at the village and Nature's Place include Rob Power Master Magician, ice cream donated by Kawartha Dairy, living history demonstrations, and many other hands-on activities. Come join us and celebrate the country's 156th birthday! |
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is located at 176 Bobcaygeon Road, Minden, Ontario. Admission is by donation (some exceptions apply).
