Passing of Former Mayor Brent Devolin
With a heavy heart, the Township of Minden Hills Mayor Bob Carter shared that Former Mayor (Reeve) Brent Devolin passed away on July 22, 2024 after a brief illness.
Brent Devolin was an incredible community volunteer for 40+ years and then moved to the political arena to continue to make a difference in the community. First elected Reeve for the Township of Minden Hills in October 2014 and proudly served the community until October 2022. Brent served two terms as Reeve / Mayor and as Warden for the County of Haliburton in 2017 retiring from Council in 2022.
Mayor Devolin had many achievements during his terms as Reeve / Mayor including the 2015 Pan-Am Games, building of new facilities the S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena and Fire Hall, along with establishing additional public housing facilities in the County. The environment was also of key importance as an avid outdoor enthusiast protecting our shoreline was a proud county initiative for Mayor Devolin.
Brent loved his community of Minden Hills and dedicated his time to make a difference. We share our sympathies with Brent’s family and friends. Flags have been lowered at Township facilities.
