Release #24-49
Subject: Community Heritage Series: Railroad Days in Haliburton County on July 11, 2024
Railroad Days in Haliburton County, the third presentation of our Community Heritage Series, will take place at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
Our guest speaker, Janet Trull, will share her research on the early settlers of Haliburton County and the impact of the newly built railway line. In 1878, against all odds, the first train arrived at Haliburton Station and changed the lives of the early settlers. Inspired by the development of the Northern Townships, Janet wrote her historical novel End of the Line (2023).
Admission is by donation. No pre-registration is required.
The Cultural Centre is located at 176 Bobcaygeon Road, Minden, ON, and is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For more information, visit the Cultural Centre's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mindenculturalcentre.
