Subject: Township of Minden Hills Approves 2024 Budget & Business Plan
On March 26, 2024, the Township of Minden Hills Council approved the 2024 tax supported budget for the Township with a tax rate increase of 4.87% plus a 1% Infrastructure levy.
“After much work and analysis of our community needs, Council today approved the 2024 Budget and Business Plan. We are focusing on investment in our infrastructure to improve services to our growing community”, says Mayor Bob Carter. “I want to thank staff and Council who have worked together with members of our public to bring the final budget to the finish line.”
For taxpayers, the average household with a residential assessment of $209,000 can expect to pay about $929 in Township taxes in 2024. This is an annual increase of about $52 or 5.87% over 2023.
Highlights of the 2024 tax supported capital & operating budget include:
- $3.8 million in capital projects are on the schedule for 2024 this includes:
- $1.8 million towards road infrastructure
- $1.4 million for the Scotch Line Waste Transfer Station
- Public washrooms in the downtown core
- Continuing important facility infrastructure investments
The 2024 Budget, as approved by Council, prioritizes enhancing services and supporting infrastructure while making an effort to balance the impact to our taxpayers.
