The Minden Hills Fire Department provides emergency response and fire protection, prevention, and education to our community.
The Minden Hills Fire Department is comprised of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time to serve whose who live, work and visit the Township. The Minden Hills Fire Department is staffed by a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, 3 Captains, Training Officer, 22 Firefighters, and a General Clerical Assistant.
We are part of a team of emergency service workers that are on-call 24 hours a day and respond to incidents such as automobile collisions, medical emergencies, and fires. Firefighters attend bi-weekly training sessions, focusing on practical firefighting skills and the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Our department strives to promote Fire Prevention and Safety awareness by providing fire and public safety education on a number of topics such as smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire escape planning, fire safety and seasonal safety.

June 30, 2018 – The public is invited to an Open House and BBQ at the New Minden Hills Fire Hall, at 12418 Highway #35 on Saturday June 30, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
The Township is also inviting all past and present Volunteer Firefighters, Captains, Deputy Chiefs, Chiefs and other stakeholders to join the current department for a VIP group photo in front of the old Fire Hall in downtown Minden at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a Private Tour of the New Hall for a “sneak peek” before the public open house.
During the Open House, everyone is welcome to sign the Fire Department’s Book of Memories and share a favourite memory, tidbit or anecdote.
Enjoy a burger or hot dog with all the fixings, provided by the Minden Hills Volunteer Fire Department.
Apr 6, 2018 – Construction on the new Fire Hall continues. Crews have completed the majority of the electrical, pumping and insulation work with the exception of fixture installation. Overhead doors have also been installed. Work on the drywall, exterior siding and fixture installation is ongoing. Occupancy of the new Fire Hall is slated for late April
Nov 3, 2017 – The excavation, footings and foundation walls are now complete. The electrical and plumbing services have been roughed in and the exterior framing is nearing completion. Radiant floor heating is being installed and the roof trusses are next on the schedule.
July 21, 2017 – Members of Minden Hills Council, Fire Chief Doug Schell and representatives from Greystone broke ground on Friday July 21, 2017 for the new Minden Hills Fire Hall. The new Hall will be located on Highway 35, next to the EMS building.
