HKPR District Health Unit Advises Air Quality Health Index Considered Moderate Risk

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) have issued Media Advisory - Air Quality Health Index Considered Moderate Risk for the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County and Northumberland County.
The outdoor air quality health index or ‘haze’ is caused by the ongoing forest fires in Ontario and Quebec and is considered moderate risk. Please refer to the Media Advisory for more information.

MNRF Restricted Fire Zone effective June 1, 2023

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) have implemented a Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) as of 12:01 AM June 1, 2023 which affects the Township of Minden Hills.
This is instituted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry under the Forest Fires Prevention Act. All burning permits within the municipality are suspended until the RFZ has been lifted. The Fire Chiefs within the County of Haliburton have issued a Fire Ban Press Release for a total Fire Ban within the entire area of Haliburton County, effective June 1, 2023.
