Would you like to meet new people, learn about your local history and become active in cultural events? If so volunteering with the Minden Hills Cultural Centre team may be for you. The centre is actively recruiting volunteers for various positions in the Agnes Jamieson Gallery, the Minden Hills Museum, and Nature’s Place. You tell us your interests and how much time you have to offer and we will find an activity to match your needs. This is a great opportunity for seniors wanting to get out and be active in their community. Students are also welcome to do community service hours with us.
Some of the typical volunteer opportunities available at the Cultural Centre are as follows:
Front Desk Attendant: We have a need for front desk reception volunteers at the Gallery and Nature’s Place. Our front desk attendants welcome visitors into the Cultural Centre buildings, invite them to ask questions about current exhibits, programs or events, take phone calls and help us with front-of-house administrative tasks and gift shop sales. This is usually a two-hour commitment between 12 pm and 2 pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
Please contact Laurie Carmount, Gallery Curator at 705-286-3763.
Special Events: Most of the Cultural Centre’s events are activities that bring both awareness to the community about the Centre and also serve as valuable fundraisers to support our public programs. Our special events volunteers help in many ways such as inspiring new ideas, assisting with exhibition openings or taking tickets at the door. Some of our special events include outdoor historical theatre, music, and Minden Festival of Trees. Together our special events help us to achieve our annual fundraising goals.
