Subject: UPDATED Sept 24 – Notice of High Water Levels and Road Closures
Due to the significant amount of precipitation received this week, water levels in Minden Hills are, or are expected to be, at higher than normal levels for this time of year.
The public is advised to use caution around area lakes, rivers, creeks and other water sources such as ditches, as high water levels and swift currents can create unstable conditions. Portions of the Riverwalk in downtown Minden are currently underwater. Avoid using the Riverwalk and Boardwalk at this time.
Residents in areas that are susceptible to high water should take necessary precautions to protect property, and continue to monitor developing conditions.
The following roads have been CLOSED:
- Upper Dutch Road – The road is closed to all traffic and is in effect from the intersection of Upper Dutch Road and County Road 121.
- Scotch Line Road West – Open to local traffic only. The closure is in effect at the intersection of Scotch Line Road and Bingham Road.
Barricades and/or signage have been placed at the closures. Avoid driving on any roadways that are underwater, as road conditions may be unstable and dangerous.
A reminder that private roads are not being monitored by the Township and those residents needing to access these roads should do so with caution. Road closures will remain in effect until road conditions are deemed appropriate for reopening.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
