Accounts Payable/Accounting Clerk

The Finance Department is looking for an Accounts Payable/Accounting Clerk.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounts Payable/Accounting Clerk provides assistance in the development and implementation of financial goals and objectives relative to the processing and payment of accounts payable and general accounting and finance department requirements and fulfills the day-to-day financial functions relating to accounts payable and general accounting for the department.

This is a Union, permanent, full-time position, based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week, being Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  The current rate of pay is $24.81/hour, subject to a Pay Equity Review. Earnings will be subject to Union dues.

Building, Bylaw, Planning Department

Planning Technician

The Building/Bylaw/Planning Department is seeking a full time Planning Technician. Reporting to the Planner, this position is responsible for aiding and assisting the Planning Department in: responding to requests for Planning information; reviewing building plans for compliance with the Township’s Zoning By-law; responding to general inquiries and requests for planning information; interpretation and analysis of planning documents and policies; assists in the preparation of background research and reports; preparing GIS mapping; and, providing general operational support to the functioning of the Building By-laws and Planning Department.

The Building/Bylaw/Planning Department is seeking a Building Inspector/Municipal Law Enforcement Officer with a focus on Septic Inspections. 

This position is responsible for the application and enforcement of the Ontario Building Code, provincial legislation, all Municipal by-laws and other applicable laws in order to ensure compliance. As a member of CUPE Local 4286, your hours of work will consist of 35/week, with an hourly rate of pay of $25.69, currently under review. Earnings will be subject to Union dues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Grade 12 is required.
  • Certification in General Legal/Process, as set out by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and as per the Ontario Building Code is required.
  • Certification in House or Small Buildings and Onsite Sewage Systems as set out by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and as per the Ontario Building Code is required.
  • Willingness to complete additional Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Municipal By-law certifications is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in construction or a similar, related position.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable Federal and Provincial laws as they relate to the use of and occupancy of buildings and land.
  • Good understanding of construction techniques and the ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in resolving contentious issues appropriately and effectively.
  • Communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to address requests, complaints and the ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid “G” Driver’s Licence is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-years’ experience as a a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Familiarity with Property and GIS Software
  • Municipal By-law Certification.
  • Plumbing - House
  • A good understanding of Municipal By-Laws, The Provincial Offences Act, The Canada Evidence Act and The Ontario Courts of Justice Act.
  • HVAC – House

Certification in any of the following as set out by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and as per the Ontario Building Code is considered an asset:

Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Casual Part-Time Community Services Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the parks, cemeteries and facilities.

Roads

Equipment Operator (Full Time)

The Public Works Department is seeking a full time Roads Equipment Operator. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, this position provides a variety of construction activities, snow/ice removal, maintenance and repair services to roads, bridges, culverts, drainage and other road works maintenance for the department. 

This is a union, full time position, based on a forty-two (42) hour work week, with hours subject to change seasonally. The current rate of pay is $24.81/hour as per the LOCAL 4286 Collective Agreement – Schedule “A”. Earnings will be subject to Union dues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience operating at least two (2) of the following: Backhoe, Loader, Tandem axle truck, Single axle truck.
• Thorough understanding of road construction and maintenance procedures.
• Possession of and ability to keep a class D’Z’ Endorsement Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience operating a grader, or willingness to complete the required training.
• Preference will be given to those candidates whose experience includes tandem axle truck.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook (email).
• TJ Mahoney Road School coursework certificates.
• Surface Miner training (or willingness to obtain).

The following are considered Assets for the position:

• Chainsaw training.
• Certification in the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
• First Aid & CPR/AED.

The position requires the operation of equipment and undertaking of construction and maintenance projects in extreme weather conditions as well as moderate to heavy physical demands related to manual labour with regular exposure to dirt, dust, oil, grease, noise, vibration, weather conditions, hazardous materials and chemicals.

Applicants may be required to complete written, practical and/or technical testing as part of the interview process.

Upon final selection, the successful applicant will be required to provide, at their own expense, a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check from the Ontario Provincial Police or appropriate police force as well as a clean Driver’s Abstract.
