Facilities & Equipment Rentals

There are multiple Community Centres throughout the Township. These centres are available for family reunions, holiday parties, retirement parties, baseball tournaments, bridal and baby showers, family dinners, celebrations of life and funeral wakes, photo sessions and more. Please contact each centre at the information provided for more information.
All Centres are wheelchair accessible with accessible washrooms, and have an AED on site.

The Township of Minden Hills offers numerous locations available to rent to meet your function’s needs.  With both large and smaller spaces providing a variety of amenities, our locations are perfect for your celebratory and professional events.

The costs associated with renting a facility have been adopted through the Township’s Fees and Charges By-law and are subject to change. To view the fees, download the Fees and Charges Bylaw 18-86. Schedule D is for Cultural Centre Programs and Facilities and Schedule H is for Community Services Programs and Facilities.

Irondale Community Centre

Location: 1004 Line Drive Road, Irondale

Amenities: Full Kitchen, Outdoor Recreational Space, Exterior 20’x30′ Tent

Description:
With an interior finished with pine, the building offers ample space for functions.
Outside are horseshoe pits and a baseball diamond.
The kitchen has three sinks, stove top and oven, large cooler, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans.

Fees:
$10.00 per hour for facility with light kitchen use (minimum of 2 hours required)
$15.00 per hour for facility with full kitchen use (minimum of 2 hours required)


Lochlin Community Centre

Location: 4713 Gelert Road (County Road 1)

Description:
Hosts up to 59 guests and features 2 full kitchen facilities include dishes, cutlery, pots and pans. Wheel chair accessible and fully accessible washroom facilities. Includes a ball diamond and horseshoe pits. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is on site.

Fees:
$15.00 per hour (minimum of 2 hours) or a $100.00 for a Full Day


S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena & Community Centre

Amenities: Kitchen, Audio Visual and PA System, Bar Facilities

Description:
Three rooms are defined by movable walls to hold your large or small private function. With ample parking room and a view of the arena, this Centre offers of audio and visual equipment at an additional cost.  A kitchen and bar facility are also available on site with further requirements and conditions.

Fees:
The fee to rent this Centre depends on the use of amenities, time of day, and rooms reserved.

Kitchen Conditions:

Pots and pans are not supplied or available with kitchen rental. A limited supply of cutlery, plates, cups, and glassware are available for use or rent. Rental clients must supply their own dish cloths and towels. Kitchen must be left as found upon rental completion. All dishes, glassware and cutlery must be returned washed and clean to their appropriate locations. Range and counter tops must be wiped clean. Please note that the person(s) in charge of the rental of the Community Centre kitchen facilities are responsible for ALL WINE GLASS, DISHES, CUTLERY, AND GLASSWARE WASHING. A fee will be applied to user groups that leave kitchen ware left unwashed. Please ensure that your caterer is aware of this stipulation in advance of all events.

Requirements:
Completed contract, completed Municipal Alcohol Policy, non refundable deposit of 50% of total rental booking to hold / secure rental, Security / Damage deposit of $100.00 for loss or breakage, payment for rental made in full; 14 days prior to event, proof of insurance (for events serving alcohol, a minimum of $5,000,000.00 coverage, naming the Corporation of the Township of Minden Hills as additional third party insured is required, posting of Special Occasions Permit and Smart Serve Certificates for all Bar Tendering staff.

Fairgrounds

The Fairgrounds is home to several large events hosted by the Township and community organizations.

Location: 2048 Fleming Road (Corner of Bobcaygeon and Fleming Road in the Village of Minden)

Amenities: Washrooms (Please note that the washroom is not wheelchair accessible)
Additional amenities, such as tents, tables, and chairs are available and can be found under “Equipment Rentals” on the sidebar.

Description:
With acres of green space free of trees and on level grass, the Fairgrounds provides a large area to hold outdoor functions close to downtown Minden and its many restaurants, shops and Cultural Centre.

The Fairgrounds are able to support events for hundreds of attendees.  A few of the events hosted here include the Haliburton County, Bluegrass Festival, and Canada Day Celebrations.

Fees:
The fee to rent this Centre depends on the use of land, duration, and in some cases the type of event.

Conditions:
The grounds and turf are left as they were found in a level and repaired manner.
Debris, animal waste, and hazards must be removed.
All water resources, such as outdoor taps or faucets must be left in the ‘OFF’ position when not in use and at the end of the function.
Alcohol is not permitted without proper approval and must be removed from the premises within the time period specified within the Contract.

Requirements:
Completed Contract returned to the Administrative Assistant 14 days prior to the scheduled event.
Non refundable deposit of $150.00 at the time of booking.
Proof of Insurance – in the amount of $5,000,000.00 naming "The Corporation of the Township of Minden Hills" as third party insured one week in advance.

Restrictions:
All Camping is Prohibited, unless approved by Council and appropriate By-Law fee has been paid in full.

Legal Notice:
The renter is responsible totally for any liability whatsoever incurred as a direct or indirect result of holding the function, and save harmless the Corporation of the Township of Minden Hills from all claims and demands, suits or actions or claims for contribution or indemnity as a result of liability arising out of the holding of the said function.

A beautiful small log church with endearing qualities for a small wedding or special family event.

Cultural Centre Grounds

For a unique heritage setting, the grounds can be used for outdoor special events, family reunions and community gatherings.

Nature’s Place
$35 hourly rate + $4.55HST = $39.55
$60 half day + $7.80HST = $67.80
$120 full day + $15.6HST = $135.60
Unique straw bale sustainable design building can be used for meetings, workshops and presentations.

Agnes Jamieson Gallery
$100 full day + $13HST = $113.0
The gallery can be used in the evening for corporate or board meeting presentations, receptions and special events.
Limitations may apply.

Minden Rotary Community Room
$35/half day, $60/full day
A board room in the Minden library with board table to seat 12 people. Rental only available during library hours.
(Half Day is 3 hours)

Sports Facilities

To schedule ice rentals after regular business hours (after 4:30 pm and all weekends) please contact the Arena Ice Operator’s office at (705) 286-1936 Ext. 202 and leave a detailed message.

Completed Rental Contracts must be returned to the Administrative Assistant and payment made in full 48 hours in advance of all weekend and evening ice rentals.  Assisting staff do not handle payments for any facilities.

(Monday to Friday from opening to 3:59 pm)

Conditions
Items must be paid in full prior to the rental date.
Proof of insurance may be required in some circumstance.
Items must be returned in the same condition.  The renter will be responsible for any damages or repairs caused during their scheduled time as mentioned within the rental agreement.
Additional approval may be required if using the equipment on Township property.  Please plan accordingly by contacting the department well in advance.
Renters are responsible for picking up and returning items.


Community Grant-Fee Waiver Program
Call for Applications to the 2018 Community Grant/Fee Waiver Program

What is it?
The Community Grant/Fee Waiver Program (Policy#91) provides for community groups and organizations within the Municipality to make application for limited financial assistance in support of activities or special events, in recognition of the value these groups bring to life in the community.

How to apply:

  • All interested persons/organizations must complete an application form outlining the purpose of the activity and related organizational information. These forms can be downloaded from this page by clicking the link below or picked up at the Township Administration or Community Services Department offices.
  • All interested persons/organizations are encouraged to submit their requests to the Community Services Department by October 31st, for consideration in the 2018 budget process.
