Next Event – Canada Day
Friday July 1st
Show your national pride by coming out to Minden Hills’ annual Canada Day Celebration held every July 1st. There are attractions for everyone to enjoy like the Haliburton Highlands Time Travelers classic car show, the Crazy river raft race (see below), live music provided by the Highland Concert Band and other performances, demonstrations, community booths and food vendors on Water street to keep you well fed and watered throughout the day.
All events and attractions occur from Main Street up to the Minden Cultural Centre and are FREE, unless otherwise specified.
So Much to Do!
Open to kids 15 years old and under. This is a live weigh in contest, so bring a bucket to hold your catch, a fishing rod and some bait and come and see how big a rock bass you can reel in. Registration is from 7:00 am at the Town Dock (across from the Post Office) and the derby continues until 11:00 am, when the prizes will be awarded. All participants must sign a 2016 Fishing Derby Waiver Form.
Calling all creative Highlanders! Now is the time to get busy building crazy rafts and making costumes for Minden’s Canada Day Crazy Raft Race . Prizes will be given for the Most Enthusiastic Crew, Most Creative Costumes, Most Original Raft and First to Finish. All participants must sign a 2016 Crazy River Race Waiver Form and those under 18 must their’s signed by a parent or guardian and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers will be on hand the day of or can be downloaded here: Canada River Race Waiver Form. Registration is from 11 AM to 12:15 PM at Rotary Park, off Highway 35, with race beginning at 12:30 PM. All entrants must wear life jackets. No entry fee!
Don’t forget the fireworks! At dusk, the Minden Hills Fire Department will put on a spectacular fireworks show at the Minden Fairgrounds. Entry is by donation.

Please be aware of the following road closures during the day from 7:00 am- 4:00 pm.
- Water Street, from Bobcaygeon Road to St. Germaine Street (Beer Store). Local Traffic only from Water and St. Germaine Streets to the walking bridge by Canadian Tire.
- St. Germaine Street, from Water Street to Prince Street
- Prince Street, from St. Germaine (Fire Hall ) to Milne Street
- Milne Street, from old EMS station to Water Street
